## What it does

Old Photo Restoration repairs scratches, creases, torn corners, stains and fading in scanned family photos, keeping the faces and the black and white or sepia tone of the original.

## From our test

My test was a badly damaged 1920s sepia print of a couple outside a farmhouse: creases, water stains and a torn-off corner. It came back as a clean, crisp black and white print with the corner rebuilt and both faces unchanged, in 108 seconds. It does not add color on purpose; that is a separate step.

## Tips

- Scan the photo flat at 600 dpi or higher, or photograph it in even daylight without glare.
- Crop away the scanner bed and album page before uploading.
- For color, run Colorize Black and White Photo on the restored result.

### Will it change the faces?

It is set up to keep faces, expressions and clothing exactly. In my test both people looked the same as in the damaged print.

### Does it colorize too?

No. It keeps the original tone. Use Colorize Black and White Photo after restoring.

### Is Old Photo Restoration free?

Old Photo Restoration is included with every PixelDojo plan and costs a few credits per image, shown on the Generate button before you run it.

### Who owns the result, and can I use it commercially?

We assign you whatever rights we hold in the result, so you can use it in your own projects, commercial ones included, as long as what you uploaded was yours to use. Unsaved results are deleted after 24 hours, so save the ones you want to keep.

### Can I use a photo of someone else?

Only photos of adults, of yourself or of people who agreed to it, and only images you have the right to edit. Every upload goes through the same safety checks as the rest of PixelDojo.
