What we put in
A 5.04 second vertical clip at 784 by 1176, 150 frames at 30 frames per second, about 5.6 MB. A man mending a net at a harbour at sunset. Soft footage: his hair read as one mass, the net in his hands was a smear, the moored boat behind him was mush.
What came back
1184 by 1776 at the same 5.04 seconds and the same 150 frames, about 16.1 MB. That is 2.3 times as many pixels per frame. Nothing was retimed and no frames were added or dropped.
What actually looks different
We pulled the same frame from both files and compared them. In the upscaled version individual hair strands separate out, the creases and stubble on his face resolve, the net becomes visible knots rather than a haze, and the planking and rigging on the boat behind him read as real objects.
The resolution tier is a target, not a promise
We asked for the 1080p tier and got 1184 by 1776 back. The upscaler scales the source rather than forcing it into a fixed frame, so a vertical clip stays vertical and lands near the tier rather than exactly on it.
