Submerged Selfie In Blue

A young woman hovers just beneath the water's surface, arm extended toward the viewer in a candid underwater selfie. Her eyes are closed in a moment of stillness, hair fanning around a face warped by the liquid lens of the surface. She wears a black tank top and blue jeans, clothes clinging as they would in any pool, yet the scene feels unmoored from ordinary swimming. Sunlight fractures through the water above, scattering into a palette of cyan, teal, and deep cobalt. The surface itself becomes a living frame: ripples and bubbles distort her features into a painterly smear while her body remains relatively sharp below. The composition is intimate and slightly off-kilter, the camera held at arm's length so the viewer shares the same submerged space. The mood is dreamlike and slightly uncanny—peaceful yet physically implausible. It recalls both fashion photography's wet-look aesthetic and the quiet surrealism of underwater portraiture, where gravity and air are briefly forgotten.
