Sari-Sari Chip Exchange

Two hands meet across a wooden counter to present a vivid yellow packet of Tomi Super Sweet Corn chips, the brand’s cartoon mascot and red lettering catching the eye at the exact center of the frame. The packet rests on a Hany milk-bar box, flanked by a green Milo tin and dark San Miguel bottles, while a January 1989 wall calendar hangs beside a slatted window that pours striped daylight into the shop. Wooden shelves recede into shadow, stacked with more Milo tins and snack bags, grounding the scene in the intimate geometry of a neighborhood sari-sari store. Warm, directional light from the window sculpts the hands and packaging, creating soft highlights on plastic and glass against the cooler, muted browns of aged timber. The palette is dominated by saturated yellows and greens, punctuated by the red of the Tomi logo and the amber of beer bottles, evoking both commercial brightness and domestic warmth. The mood is quietly nostalgic—everyday commerce frozen in a late-80s Philippine interior—rendered with photorealistic detail and cinematic depth that feels like a paused frame from a short film rather than a posed still life.
