Night Of Falling Stars

A landscape event poster is taped to raw concrete, its heavy uncoated stock catching a single hard spotlight from the upper left. Crisp shadows fall from the curled corners and masking tape, grounding the print in a gallery-like physicality. Giant condensed vermilion sans-serif type stacks NIGHT OF FALLING STARS across the left, overlapping a large cobalt circle that reads as a rising moon. Thin black serif type announces an open-air evening at Halden Ridge Observatory; a heavy date line, 12 AUGUST / 22:00, anchors the lower field. Three modest callouts—telescopes open, live string quartet, hot cider bar—run along the bottom edge. The palette is spare and high-contrast: cream paper, vermilion, cobalt, and dense black. Fine grain and slight ink spread at letter edges recall letterpress or screen print. Swiss International Style discipline—tight hierarchy, geometric moon, flush alignment—meets a nocturnal, slightly romantic mood. The composition is left-heavy, the circle pulling the eye rightward like a celestial body. Lighting is theatrical and documentary at once, turning a functional announcement into an object of quiet drama.
