Autumn Latte on the Sidewalk

A dark-stained A-frame chalkboard stands on cracked concrete outside a storefront, its black surface lettered in cream chalk: Today, then Pumpkin Spice Latte in looping script, a small star flourish, and $5.50 in orange. A single maple leaf is sketched in warm ochre and rust at the upper right, echoing a real fallen leaf on the pavement below the sign’s right leg. Soft bokeh from interior pendant lights and a cream-coated figure in the doorway keep the shopfront secondary. Cream window frames, a wooden door with brass hardware, and receding gray sidewalk recede into shallow depth. The palette is charcoal, cream, and autumn orange against cool urban gray, evoking early fall on a quiet commercial street. The mood is unhurried and seasonal—hand-lettered hospitality rather than neon. Composition is frontal and grounded, the sign occupying the lower two-thirds while the café’s glow and a passerby remain atmospheric, not narrative.
