Lantern Seller Lights Dusk

A large spherical paper lantern fills the center of the frame, its warm amber glow almost swallowing the figure who holds a small candle to its wick. Ribbed silk and a red tassel catch the flame; neighboring vendors lift similar globes, so the courtyard becomes a field of hovering moons. Timber shopfronts recede into dusk while pennant strings of teal, crimson, and gold stitch the night above.
