Ember Oil, Brass Spoon

A squat amber jar sits open on dark slate, its cream letterpress label declaring Ember & Salt in heavy black serif, Smoked Chili Crisp in smaller red type, and an 8-ounce net weight. A brass spoon lifts a glistening mound of chili flakes, garlic, and sesame from the oil; a single ruby drop hangs, then falls back into the jar. Dried red chilies and toasted sesame seeds scatter around the base like spent embers. Hard side light rakes the glass, turning the oil into translucent garnet and catching clean reflections along the rim. Shallow depth of field isolates the spoon’s heap against a soft charcoal backdrop, while the slate’s texture and scattered seeds keep the frame grounded. The palette is restrained: amber glass, cream paper, black type, brass, and the deep reds of chili and oil. The mood is appetite and craft—luxury pantry photography that treats condiment as still life. Macro clarity, letterpress tactility, and the slow drip of oil give the image both commercial precision and a quiet, almost ceremonial heat.
