Morphic alternative

Morphic alternative: keyframes in, animation out

Morphic sells a storytelling studio built on frames and inbetweening. Pixel Dojo does the same core move with Kling 3.0 and Seedance 2.5: give a start frame and an end frame, describe what happens, get the motion in between.

We drew two keyframes of one original character, a tin scarecrow on a city balcony, and asked two video models to animate the moment between them. This page explains how that works and what it costs.

27.5 credits ($1.72) per 5 s clip with audio. Included in every plan, from $10/month.

The tin scarecrow presses the seed into the soil of the terracotta pot, a green shoot sprouts and quickly grows into a tall sunflower as the light warms from morning to golden afternoon, and the scarecrow gets to its feet in delight. Gentle creaks of tin, birdsong.

What inbetweening means in AI video

In hand drawn animation, a lead artist draws the key poses and an inbetweener draws every frame that connects them. Morphic's home page names the same idea: iterate on frames, then use inbetweening to bring scenes to life.

AI video models now take that job. You give a start frame, an end frame and a sentence about the action, and the model invents the motion that gets from one to the other. On Pixel Dojo, Kling 3.0 takes an end image and Seedance 2.5 takes a last frame.

The keyframes are where your control lives. We made ours on Nano Banana 2.1, then fed the first one back as a reference so the second kept the same character, hat and balcony.

Animation styles we made for this page

Every clip below came from one prompt on Pixel Dojo. The prompt is on each tile.

Watercolor animation on WAN 3.0 for 10 credits.

Hand painted watercolor animation: a small paper lantern boat drifts down a night river past glowing reeds, fireflies rising around it, visible brush texture and paper grain, gentle lapping water and crickets.

Stop motion clay on Kling 3.0, thumbprints and all.

Stop motion clay animation: a plasticine astronaut in his seventies with a white mustache waters a tiny garden of clay tulips on the moon with a tin watering can, the earth hanging in the black sky, visible thumbprints in the clay, a soft hum and a gentle trickle.

Cel shaded 2D on Seedance 2.5, with a music box tune.

Cel shaded 2D animation: a fat grey cat chases a paper butterfly across a rooftop garden full of potted herbs, leaps, misses and lands in a basket of laundry, painted sky with soft clouds, a bright music box tune and a soft thump.

Pencil and charcoal line animation on WAN 3.0.

Hand drawn charcoal sketch animation: a long eared hare sprints across a frosty field and leaps over a low stone wall, its lines boiling and redrawn every frame, smudges and rough paper texture, thudding paws and a cold wind.

Two keyframes, two inbetweens

Frame one: the scarecrow kneels with a seed by an empty pot. Frame two: a sunflower stands in the pot. Both models got the same frames and the same action prompt, 5 seconds, 16:9.

Keyframe one: a lanky tin scarecrow in a patched straw hat kneels beside an empty terracotta pot on a sunny balcony

Stylized 3D animated film still: a lanky tin scarecrow with a patched straw hat and button eyes kneels beside an empty terracotta pot on a sunny apartment balcony, holding a single seed between two tin fingers, city rooftops behind, soft morning light, pastel palette.

Keyframe two: the same scarecrow crouches and waves beside the pot, where a sunflower now grows

The same tin scarecrow from the reference image, same design, straw hat and button eyes, on the same balcony, now standing tall and looking up in delight at a large sunflower that has grown out of the terracotta pot, petals glowing in warm golden afternoon light, same stylized 3D animated film look.

  • Both models started on keyframe one and finished on keyframe two, so the clips cut cleanly into a longer sequence.
  • Kling 3.0 staged the growth as a beat of its own: the scarecrow leans in and a glowing green shoot pops out of the soil before the sunflower appears.
  • Seedance 2.5 directed it like a short film: it cut in close on the tin fingers pressing the seed into the soil, then pulled back to the sprout and the final frame.
  • Our second keyframe drifted from the prompt (a smaller sunflower, a crouch instead of standing tall), and the inbetween followed the frame, not the words. Fix the keyframe first.

How to run an inbetween on Pixel Dojo

  1. 1

    Make the first keyframe

Generate the opening pose on an image model such as Nano Banana 2.1, or upload your own drawing.

  2. 2

Make the last keyframe from the first

Attach the first frame as a reference and describe only what changes. That keeps the character and the set consistent.

  3. 3

    Describe the action between them

On Kling 3.0 add the start and end images, or on Seedance 2.5 the first and last frames, then write one sentence about what happens.

  4. 4

    Chain the shots

Use the last frame of one clip as the first frame of the next, or let Film Studio plan the shots, frames and clips for a whole story.

When Morphic is the better pick

Morphic is built around one canvas for a story, and its home page lists training your own style. If your team wants shared credits across a workspace and a single board for every frame, its Pro and Max plans add seats.

If you want start and end frame control on top models, a refund window on a first purchase and a studio that takes a script all the way to an edited film, we think Pixel Dojo is the stronger choice.

Pixel Dojo pricing for animation

Plans are Lite $10 a month for 160 credits, Pro $25 for 500 credits, Pro Max $50 for 1,100 credits. Every plan includes every model and commercial use.
