Reve alternative

Reve alternative: one cover brief, four image models, one clean edit

Pixel Dojo runs Ideogram 4.5, GPT Image 2.5, Nano Banana 2.1 and FLUX 3 Image side by side, so you pick the model that nails your type and layout, then edit the winner without losing a letter.

Reve sells one model built around layout, text and stable edits. We wanted to know how that job goes on a studio with several models, so we wrote a magazine cover brief, ran it four ways, then turned the summer cover into a winter one.

1 credit ($0.06) per image at 1K. Included in every plan, from $10/month.

A travel magazine cover titled MERIDIAN with a cyclist in a red jacket on a snowy coastal cliff road and the line THE SLOW ROAD ISSUE
Edit this magazine cover: change the season to deep winter, with fresh snow on the cliffs and the roadside, a pale icy sky and the cyclist in a red winter jacket. Keep the layout, the MERIDIAN masthead and every line of cover text exactly as they are.

The problem: one model has to be right every time

Reve says its 2.1 model plans a layout before it renders, outputs native 4K images, treats text as real design and keeps edits stable. Those are the right goals for posters, covers and ads.

The catch is that a single model has one taste. When its type or framing misses your brief, the only fix is another prompt on the same model. We think the faster fix is a second opinion from a different model, at a price you can see before you click.

One magazine cover brief on four image models

We asked for a fictional travel quarterly called MERIDIAN: a white serif masthead, a cyclist on a coastal cliff road at sunrise, and the cover line THE SLOW ROAD ISSUE. Each tile shows the prompt, settings and credits it used.

Ideogram 4.5: a MERIDIAN cover with a cyclist on a misty cliff road, issue and price lines and the cover line at the bottom

Magazine cover design for a fictional travel quarterly named "MERIDIAN": the masthead in large white serif letters across the top, beneath it a photograph of a lone cyclist on a coastal cliff road at sunrise, the cover line "THE SLOW ROAD ISSUE" in small caps at the bottom, clean editorial layout.

  • All four spelled MERIDIAN and THE SLOW ROAD ISSUE correctly and kept the masthead across the top.
  • Nano Banana 2.1 built the most complete newsstand cover, with a tagline, issue number, barcode and prices, all legible.
  • Ideogram 4.5 and GPT Image 2.5 also invented small cover lines that read cleanly, so check them before you print.
  • FLUX 3 Image used only the text we asked for, the cleanest start if your designer adds the rest.

Verdict

If you love Reve's look and want native 4K files from one model, Reve is a fair pick, and its Pro tier is cheap.

If your work is text heavy design, we think several strong models beat one. In our test each model read the same brief differently, and having all four on one plan meant we could keep the cover we liked, then edit it in place. Nano Banana 2.1 changed summer to winter and left every letter, the barcode and the layout where they were.

What our cover test cost

Plans are Lite $10 a month for 160 credits, Pro $25 for 500 credits, Pro Max $50 for 1,100 credits. Commercial use is included on every plan.

The four covers cost between 1 and 2 credits each, and the winter edit cost 1.5 credits. Each tile lists its own price.

Under our refund policy, a first purchase can be refunded within 7 days, in full if under 20% of the credits are used and pro-rated after that.

Reve questions

What is a good alternative to Reve?

Pixel Dojo runs Ideogram 4.5, GPT Image 2.5, Nano Banana 2.1 and FLUX 3 Image on one plan, so you can run a text heavy brief on several models, keep the best and edit it.

How much does Reve cost?

Reve does not list plan prices on its public pages. A third party write up by eesel AI lists Lite at $7.99 a month and Pro at $19.99 a month plus tax.

Which AI image model is best for text on images?

In our cover test all four models spelled the masthead and cover line correctly. Nano Banana 2.1 built the fullest cover, and FLUX 3 Image added only the text we asked for.

Can I edit an AI image without breaking the text?

Yes. We edited our Nano Banana 2.1 cover from summer to winter with the cover as a reference, and the masthead, cover lines and barcode stayed as they were.

Does Pixel Dojo have an image API like Reve?

Yes. Every model runs through one public API with API credit packs from $5, docs generated from each model's spec and a hosted MCP server.
