What happened to Sora
OpenAI's help center says the Sora web and app experiences were discontinued on April 26, 2026, with the Sora API following on September 24, 2026.
OpenAI's API deprecations page says developers were notified on March 24, 2026 that the Videos API and the sora-2 and sora-2-pro models would shut down on September 24, 2026, and it lists no replacement model.
OpenAI says Sora users can export their content at sora.chatgpt.com/sunset, and that it will permanently delete Sora data after the discontinuation and any final export window. If you have videos there, export them first.
Moving a Sora workflow to Pixel Dojo, step by step
1. Export what you made
Download your Sora videos from OpenAI's export page before the data is deleted.
2. Start from text or from a still
Write your scene as you did in Sora, or make a still first on Nano Banana 2.1 or Seedream 5 so you approve the look before paying for video.
3. Give it a voice
Seedance 2.5, Veo 3.1 and Kling 3.0 make dialogue and sound in the same render. Put the line in quotes in the prompt.
4. Caption it for social
Run the clip through Auto Captions to burn in readable subtitles.
5. Go longer
