PiAPI alternative

PiAPI alternative: one API for image and video, explained and tested

Pixel Dojo gives developers one run endpoint for Seedance 2.5, Kling 3.0, Veo 3.1, WAN and the top image models, docs generated from each model's own spec, a hosted MCP server and credit packs from $5.

PiAPI resells access to many image and video models behind one API. We explain how these generation APIs actually work, then show one workshop still animated by three video models and captioned, all through the same calls.

30 credits ($1.88) per 5 s clip at 720p with audio. Included in every plan, from $10/month.

The woodturner pushes the chisel along the spinning walnut bowl as pale shavings spray off, then lifts the tool, glances up at the camera and says, "Walnut forgives nothing, so go slow." Dust drifts in the window light, the camera holds. Sound: the lathe hum, the scrape of the chisel and her voice.

What PiAPI is

PiAPI is an API aggregator. Its home page lists video APIs for Seedance 2.5, Kling, Veo 3 and 3.1, Wan, Hailuo and more, and image APIs for GPT Image 2.5, Nano Banana Pro and Seedream 5 Pro, with prices such as Seedance 2.5 from $0.15 a second and Kling from $0.20 a video.

Its docs describe a unified API with two endpoints, webhooks, and two modes: pay per use on PiAPI's own account pool, or connecting your own provider accounts to seats. The home page also says PiAPI does not provide a Midjourney or Suno API.

Every image and clip below came from the prompt on its tile. Tap one to start from it.

The last step of the chain: our auto captions model added word by word subtitles to the Seedance 2.5 clip for 5 credits.

Seedream 5 set the label text cleanly. A product shot like this is one request.

A rooftop gardener in his fifties with a canvas apron kneels among raised beds of tomatoes on a city roof at golden hour, holds up a ripe tomato to the camera and says, "Grown four floors up." City hum, a distant siren and buzzing bees.

How an image and video generation API works

Video takes minutes, so these APIs are asynchronous. You send a request with the model name and its inputs, get a job id back right away, and then ask for the job's status until it finishes with a link to the file.

On Pixel Dojo that is POST /api/v1/models/{apiId}/run to start and GET /api/v1/jobs/{jobId} to check. Every model takes the same shape of call, so swapping Seedance 2.5 for Kling 3.0 means changing the model id and the input names its doc lists.

The part that bites teams is drift: a doc that lists a parameter the model no longer accepts. Our model docs, OpenAPI file and LLM readable pages are generated from the same spec that checks your request, so they stay in step.

One workshop still, three video models, one API

We made a still on GPT Image 2.5, then sent it with the same motion and dialogue prompt to Seedance 2.5, Kling 3.0 and WAN 2.7 as a start frame. Each tile shows its settings and credits.

  • All three kept her face, the glasses, the apron and the workshop from the still, which is what a start frame is for.
  • Seedance 2.5 balanced the two halves best: real turning first, then a clean spoken line our caption step read word for word.
  • Kling 3.0 gave the most time to the craft and the flying shavings, with the line squeezed into the last moment.
  • WAN 2.7 went to the dialogue soonest and cost 10 credits, a third of the Seedance 2.5 price.

When PiAPI is the better pick

If you already pay for provider accounts and want to route them through one API, PiAPI's host your account mode is built for that, and its Enterprise plan adds sub accounts for agencies.

If you want one balance that covers the API and a full browser studio, docs that cannot drift from the model, and tools like auto captions to finish the clip, we think Pixel Dojo is the simpler stack.

What the workshop chain cost on Pixel Dojo

Plans are Lite $10 a month for 160 credits, Pro $25 for 500 credits, Pro Max $50 for 1,100 credits. API users can skip the plan and buy credit packs from $5.

The still cost 2 credits. The three clips cost 30, 27.5 and 10 credits, and the captions 5. Every tile lists its own price.

Under our refund policy, a first purchase can be refunded within 7 days, in full if under 20% of the credits are used and pro-rated after that.
