Artflow alternative

Artflow alternative for story characters you can cast from one picture

On Pixel Dojo one portrait is enough to cast a character: Nano Banana 2.1 carries the face into new scenes, Seedance 2.5 makes it move with sound, and Character Studio keeps it ready for the next chapter.

Artflow is built around AI actors you train and then direct. We wanted to test the other way, so we designed Captain Ada, an original 3D animated ferry captain, and cast her in a short story from a single picture.

30 credits ($1.88) per 5 s clip at 720p with audio. Included in every plan, from $10/month.

3D animated film shot: Captain Ada lifts her steaming cup toward the seagulls on the posts and says warmly: "Morning, my lovelies. Calm water today." One gull tilts its head, the sky glows pink behind the moored ferry. Sound: her voice, soft lapping water, gull calls.

The usual advice: train an actor before you tell a story

Character tools have long said that a consistent character needs training: upload a set of photos, wait, then direct the trained actor. Artflow's pricing page sells actor training per actor and in packs.

We think that advice is out of date for most stories. Reference models now hold a face from one clean picture, across new outfits, light and settings. Training still has its place, for long series and many styles, but it should not be step one.

So we skipped it. One portrait of Captain Ada, two story beats and a clip.

Captain Ada in three story beats, from one picture

The portrait was the only reference for both scenes, and the clip started from the dock scene. Each tile shows what it cost.

Character sheet portrait of Captain Ada: white curls, round glasses, navy peacoat with brass buttons, red knit scarf

3D animated feature film character portrait of an original character: Captain Ada, a cheerful ferry captain in her sixties with short white curls, rosy weathered cheeks, round wire glasses, a navy peacoat with brass buttons and a red knit scarf, soft studio lighting on a pale blue backdrop, stylized proportions, expressive eyes.

Use the reference image as the character. The same 3D animated Captain Ada, same white curls, round glasses, navy peacoat and red scarf, grips the wooden wheel of a small ferry in a rainstorm, rain streaking the wheelhouse window, a lighthouse beam cutting through the dark sea outside, determined smile, dramatic teal and amber lighting, 3D animated film still.

The same 3D animated Captain Ada, same white curls, round glasses, navy peacoat and red scarf, sits on a wooden dock at dawn with a thermos cup, three seagulls perched on the posts beside her, her little ferry moored behind, pink and gold morning sky over calm water, warm 3D animated film still.

  • Nano Banana 2.1 kept Ada's curls, round glasses, red scarf and brass buttoned peacoat in both scenes, from one picture and no training.
  • The storm scene changed the light completely, teal and amber at night, and she still read as the same character.
  • Seedance 2.5 animated the dock scene in the same 3D film style, steam rising from her cup and the gulls on their posts, with sound built in.
  • The three stills cost 1.5 credits each and the clip cost 30, with no training step at all.

Artflow questions

What is a good Artflow alternative?

Pixel Dojo casts a character from one picture, keeps it consistent in new scenes on Nano Banana 2.1, animates it with sound on Seedance 2.5 and builds whole films in Film Studio, with commercial use on every plan.

Do I need to train an AI actor for a consistent character?

Not for most stories. One clean reference picture kept Captain Ada consistent in every scene above. Train a LoRA when a character stars in a long series or many styles.

How much does Artflow cost?

Artflow's pricing page lists monthly plans at $7.50, $15, $35 and $99, with actor training sold per actor or in packs.

Can my character talk?

Yes. Give a scene to Seedance 2.5, Veo 3.1 or Kling 3.0 as the first frame and write the line in quotes; the voice and room sound render with the picture.
