How to recreate a viral edit with your own character
Kata reads an edit cut by cut, then films it again with your cast: the same cuts, moves and captions, on a new score with the same beat.
You need: A saved character. An edit of your own is optional: the library has 31.
Step by step
Pick an edit
Open Kata and press Recreate on an edit from the library, like Main Character. Or upload your own, 4 to 60 seconds long.
Cast your lead
Press Lead, search your Character Studio characters and pick one. Up to three people, in the order they appear in the edit.
Confirm and plan
Tick the box to confirm everyone you cast agreed to be in it, then press Plan my Kata. Reading the edit and the plan are free.
Read the plan and the price
Each cut gets a setup for your cast and new captions in the same style. Main Character came to 213 credits. Press Generate.
Watch it beside the reference
Your Kata saves to your Library and plays next to the original: same cuts to the frame, same moves, your star.
Why it works
- Motion transfer presets copy every move exactly; style transfer redraws the whole edit in a new look.
- Add a product photo and Kata puts it in the shots where the edit shows one.
Made this way
Your practice task
Recreate one personalized edit and one style transfer edit with the same character.

Recreate an edit with your own character in Kata, from choosing a reference to reviewing the free plan and generating. Open Kata, and start with an edit. Choose from 31 edits in the library, or drop your own clip into the upload area. Your clip can be 4 to 60 seconds long. For this remake, choose Main Character using Recreate. It has 8 cuts on the beat with bold captions. The picked label confirms it is loaded as the edit to remake. Now add your lead from Character Studio. Search for Jun to find Juniper, then select her character card. Once she is cast, press Close to return to your edit. Juniper now appears as the lead under Your Cast. Tick the consent box to confirm everyone you cast agreed to be in it, then press Plan my Kata to begin. Kata is now reading the reference, identifying every cut to the frame, along with its timing and captions. The plan and price are free, so you can review before generating. Read through the plan. Each cut has a setup for Juniper, and new captions in the same style. This remake costs about 213 credits. When you are ready, press Generate. Your Kata is done and saved to your library. Compare Juniper's video with the reference beside it, the same cuts and the same moves, now with your character taking the lead. You have picked, cast, planned, and generated your Kata. Next, try another library edit with your character.
