Shutterstock AI alternative: generate the exact stock shot
Pixel Dojo runs Seedream 5, Nano Banana 2.1, GPT Image 2.5 and FLUX 3 Image on one plan, shows each price before you click, and lets you pick the engine that nails your brief instead of settling for one house model.
Shutterstock added an AI image generator next to its stock library. We wanted to see how a classic stock brief comes out on the engines we carry, so we wrote one office scene and ran it on four models.
2.5 credits ($0.16) per image at 2K. Included in every plan, from $10/month.

How AI stock photos differ from library stock
A stock library sells photos someone already shot. An AI image generator makes a new picture from your words, so you can ask for the exact people, room, light and props your layout needs, then change one detail and run it again.
The model matters more than the website. Each engine has its own taste in faces, light and framing, so the same brief can look like four different photographers shot it. That is why we test briefs on several engines before we pick one.
Rights matter too. Read what license comes with an AI image on any service, and whether you need an active plan to download it.
Stock style images for every slot in a layout
Each image below came from one run on Pixel Dojo, with the prompt shown on its tile.

Food flat lay on Qwen Image 2.1 with open space for a headline.
Overhead flat lay of pomegranate halves, scattered ruby seeds and a piece of golden honeycomb on a dark slate board with a small bowl of yogurt, soft daylight from the left, generous empty space on the right for copy.

Editorial landscape on WAN 2.7 Image Pro.
Aerial photo straight down on a river delta braided into silver channels across green and ochre wetland, late afternoon sun glinting on the water, sharp detail, editorial landscape photography.

An isolated product shot on Recraft V4.1, ready to drop into a catalog.
Product photo of a matte terracotta ceramic mug with a speckled cream glaze on the rim, centered on a seamless pure white background, soft contact shadow, clean studio lighting.

A website header background on FLUX 3 Image with calm space on the left.
Abstract 3D background of flowing translucent glass ribbons in teal and coral twisting across a soft cream gradient, studio light with gentle caustics, wide banner composition with calm empty space on the left.
One office stock brief on four image engines
We wrote a typical stock request, two architects in their thirties working over a blueprint and a foam model, and ran the same prompt on four models at a 4:3 shape. Each tile shows its settings and credits.

Bright candid stock photo of two architects in their thirties, a woman and a man, leaning over a large paper blueprint and a white foam building model on a wooden table, she points at the model while he laughs, sunlit studio office with plants and big windows, natural colors.

- All four kept two people, the blueprint and the foam model in frame with natural, candid expressions, the core of a stock brief.
- Seedream 5 framed the pair closest and gave the most magazine ready lighting, which is why we made it the hero.
- GPT Image 2.5 and FLUX 3 Image built the most detailed models, with tiny trees around the buildings.
- Nano Banana 2.1 added the most office props, a laptop, rolled plans and an easel, for a busier working scene.

What you get beyond one generator
Four looks per brief
Run one prompt on several engines and keep the one that fits your brand, as we did with the architects above.
Your own faces on call
Character Studio saves a person you created, so you can call them by @name in any prompt and keep a campaign cast consistent.
Train on your style
LoRA trainers for FLUX, Qwen, WAN and Z-Image learn a product or a house look from your own photos.
Batch through the API
Every image model runs through our public API, with docs generated from each model's spec and API credit packs from $5.
When Shutterstock is the better pick
If you need real photographs of real places and events, a stock library is the right tool. Shutterstock also says it offers indemnification for AI images to its enterprise customers, which large legal teams may require.
If you need a picture that does not exist yet, in your exact setting, with your own cast, we think four engines on one plan gets you there faster.
What our stock test cost
The four architect images cost 2.5, 1.5, 2 and 1 credits, and every tile lists its own price.
Plans are Lite $10 a month for 160 credits, Pro $25 for 500 credits, Pro Max $50 for 1,100 credits. Every plan includes commercial use.
Under our refund policy, a first purchase can be refunded within 7 days, in full if under 20% of the credits are used and pro-rated after that.
