VideoScribe alternative
VideoScribe alternative: can AI draw your whiteboard explainer?
For a quick whiteboard style shot, Veo 3.1 drew a convincing marker sketch from one prompt. For labeled diagrams and a full narrated lesson, VideoScribe still gives you more control.
VideoScribe builds whiteboard videos from a library of hand drawn assets that you place on a timeline. We wanted to know how close a prompt gets, so we asked four AI video models for the same short whiteboard scene.
36 credits ($2.25) per 8 s clip at 1080p with audio. Included in every plan, from $10/month.

More training and explainer visuals we made here
Every image and clip below was made on Pixel Dojo with the prompt shown on its tile.

A security training poster on GPT Image 2.5, every word spelled right, for 2 credits.
Clean flat illustrated workplace training poster titled "THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK" with three numbered tips: "1 CHECK THE SENDER", "2 HOVER OVER LINKS", "3 REPORT IT", each with a simple icon of an envelope, a cursor and a flag, navy and coral palette, generous white space, crisp legible lettering.

A wordless process illustration on Recraft V4.1 for 1 credit, ready for your own labels.
Flat vector illustration in four panels showing how a home compost bin works: kitchen scraps go in, dry leaves are layered on top, worms break it down, rich soil comes out into a garden bed, friendly rounded shapes, earthy green and brown palette, no text.
The same illustration brought to life on WAN 2.7 as an image to video clip.
The flat illustration gently comes alive: a spoon of scraps drops into the bin, the worms wriggle in the dark soil, and rich soil pours out of the tipped pot into the garden bed as the little plants sway.
Paper cutout animation on Seedance 2 Mini, another classic explainer look.
Paper cutout stop motion animation: a small orange paper fox trots through a forest of layered paper pine trees, the layers slide past in parallax, a paper moon rises behind the hills, handmade texture, gentle frame by frame movement.
The problem: explainer videos take hours of placing assets
VideoScribe is built for learning and development, HR and marketing teams. You pick hand drawn images from its library, set a drawing hand, arrange scenes on a timeline, add a voiceover and export in widescreen, square or vertical.
That gives you exact control, and it also means every scene is built by hand. We wanted to see whether a single prompt could produce a usable whiteboard shot, with the hand, the marker and the reveal, in about a minute.
One whiteboard lock and key scene on four models
We asked each model for a hand drawing a pin tumbler lock, a key lifting the pins into line and the cylinder turning, in black line art with no words. Each tile shows the settings and credits it used.
Whiteboard explainer animation, top down locked camera over a clean white board: a hand holding a black marker draws a simple pin tumbler lock, then a key slides into it and lifts the small pins into a straight line, and the cylinder turns. Simple black line art with a few blue accents, no words or letters. Sound: marker squeak and a soft click.

- Veo 3.1 Fast looked most like a real whiteboard video: a real hand, a black marker and a padlock and key appearing line by line.
- Seedance 2.5 drew even the hand as line art, which reads more like a flat animated explainer than a filmed board.
- Kling 3.0 mixed the two worlds: a drawn lock, then a real key in a real hand.
- WAN 3.0 ended on the most detailed drawing, a shaded pencil sketch, for 10 credits.
Verdict
A prompt gets you a convincing whiteboard shot in one step. In our test Veo 3.1 Fast came closest to the hand drawn look VideoScribe is known for, and WAN 3.0 gave the richest drawing for the lowest price.
What a prompt does not give you is exact control. None of the four models let us place a label, time a reveal to narration or reuse a brand font. For a full training module, we would still build it scene by scene in VideoScribe, or plan it shot by shot with Sensei and add text to speech and captions here.

Teams also get multi license subscriptions on Core and Max, and VideoScribe lists discounts for charities, educators and five or more licenses.
