Descript alternative
Descript alternative for creators who need the footage too
Descript edits what you recorded. Pixel Dojo makes what you did not record: the talking clip, the burned in captions, the vertical short, the b-roll and the thumbnail, all on one credit balance with the price shown first.
We ran one creator job end to end. A plant care podcast needed a promo clip of its host, captions for silent scrolling and a 9:16 cut for shorts. Every step below ran on Pixel Dojo, and each tile shows what it cost.
30 credits ($1.88) per 5 s clip at 720p with audio. Included in every plan, from $10/month.

The brief: one podcast promo, three deliverables
A weekly show lives on clips. Each episode needs a promo of the host, captions so it plays on mute and a vertical version for shorts and reels.
In Descript you would start from a recording and edit the transcript. We started from nothing but a prompt, to show how a creator fills the gaps when there is no footage of the moment they want.
The rest of an episode package, made here
A show needs more than one clip. We made each of these on Pixel Dojo from the prompt on its tile.

A thumbnail on GPT Image 2.5. Both lines of text came out spelled right.
YouTube thumbnail for a plant care show: the words "ROOT BOUND" in huge bold white letters with a thick dark outline, a smaller yellow tag reading "EPISODE 12", a lush fiddle leaf fig in a terracotta pot on the right, deep green gradient background, high contrast, clean layout.
A talking tutorial on Veo 3.1 Lite with her line, the sizzle and kitchen sound built in.
Medium shot of a home cook with rolled sleeves at a gas stove, shaking cumin and coriander seeds in a small cast iron pan, she glances at the camera and says, "Toast the seeds first. Thirty seconds, no more." Warm kitchen light, sizzle and a soft crackle.
Close up b-roll on Kling 3.0 with key clacks, for the moments a talking head needs a cutaway.
Close up b-roll of fingers typing on a mint green vintage typewriter on a sunlit desk, the carriage sliding and the bell ringing at the end of a line, dust in the light, crisp key clacks and the bell chime.
An intro shot on WAN 3.0 with ambient sound, for openers and chapter breaks.
Slow aerial glide over a quiet canal town at dawn, mist on the water, narrow brick houses with lit windows, a single rowing boat leaving a long ripple, soft ambient pads and distant church bells.
Case study: host clip, captions, vertical short
We generated the host clip on Seedance 2.5, ran it through auto captions, then reframed the captioned clip to 9:16. Each step used the output of the one before, and each tile lists its settings and credits.
Medium shot of a podcast host with short dark locs and a rust corduroy overshirt at a walnut desk with a broadcast microphone on a boom arm, a trailing pothos on the shelf behind her. She leans toward the mic and says, "Most houseplants die from too much love, not too little water." Warm practical lamps, acoustic panels, soft room tone.
- Seedance 2.5 delivered the full spoken line in sync with her lips, with the boom mic, the trailing plant and warm practical lamps from the prompt.
- Auto captions transcribed the line word for word and split it into two readable lines, with TOO and WATER picked out in yellow.
- The reframe kept the captions and the whole set in a vertical frame, so the host sits smaller. For a tighter short, generate the host clip at 9:16 from the start.
- The clip cost 30 credits, the captions 5 and the reframe 8, each shown on its tile before the run.

What a Descript user gains here
Shots you never filmed
Generate a host line, a cooking demo or a cutaway from a prompt when the camera was not rolling, with dialogue and sound in the same clip.
Captions and reframes as steps
Auto captions and Video Reframe take any clip, generated or uploaded, so a long landscape take becomes a captioned vertical short.
Whole videos with a director
Hand an outline to Sensei. It plans the shots, prices the plan, waits for your approval and reviews every take. Film Studio cuts the shots into one film with an editor pass.
Batch it from code
Every model runs through the public API, with docs generated from each model's spec, and agents can drive it through our hosted MCP server.
When Descript is the better pick
If your show is recorded and the job is cutting it, Descript is built for that. You edit the transcript to edit the video, Studio Sound cleans up noisy audio, filler words come out in one pass and Underlord handles editing from plain instructions.
Descript also records remote guests and your screen, which we do not do. Many creators will keep it for the edit and use us for the footage, captions and shorts around it.
What an episode package costs on Pixel Dojo
Plans are Lite $10 a month for 160 credits, Pro $25 for 500 credits, Pro Max $50 for 1,100 credits. Commercial use is included on every plan.
In our case study the host clip cost 30 credits, captions 5 and the vertical cut 8. The thumbnail cost 2 credits and the Veo 3.1 Lite tutorial 9.
Under our refund policy, a first purchase can be refunded within 7 days, in full if under 20% of the credits are used and pro-rated after that.
Descript questions
What is a good alternative to Descript?
If you need new footage rather than edits, Pixel Dojo generates talking clips, b-roll and thumbnails, adds auto captions and reframes clips to 9:16, all on one credit balance.

Yes. Descript's free plan includes 60 media minutes a month and 100 one time AI credits, with 720p exports that carry a watermark.

Yes. Auto captions transcribe a clip and burn the words in. In our test it captioned the host's full line correctly for 5 credits.
