Placeit alternative

Placeit alternative: your design on any product, then in motion

Placeit gives you a big library of ready made mockup scenes. Pixel Dojo makes the design itself, puts it on any product in any scene you can describe, and animates the result, all on one plan.

We ran the whole merch job a print on demand seller would bring to Placeit: an original badge for an invented hiking club, a t-shirt shot on a person, a camp mug on a picnic table, and a short clip of that mug for a product page.

30 credits ($1.88) per 5 s clip at 720p with audio. Included in every plan, from $10/month.

Steam curls up from the enamel mug as morning mist drifts slowly through the pines behind it, a shaft of sunlight breaks through and warms the table, the camera slowly arcs around the mug. Sound: birdsong, a light breeze in the trees and a distant creek.

How we built a merch drop in four steps

  1. 1

    Make the design

We asked Ideogram 4.5 for a two color badge reading SALT & PINE TRAIL CLUB on plain black, so it would sit on any fabric.

  2. 2

    Put it on a person

We gave the badge to Nano Banana Edit with a prompt for a hiker in a heather grey tee on a forest trail, and told it to keep the graphic and its words exactly.

  3. 3

    Put it on a product

We gave the same badge to GPT Image 2 Edit for a cream enamel camp mug on a picnic table at dawn.

  4. 4

    Make it move

We used the mug photo as the start frame on Seedance 2.5 for 5 seconds of steam, mist and birdsong.

Every tile below is one step of the chain, in order, with the settings and credits it used.

  • Ideogram 4.5 spelled SALT & PINE TRAIL CLUB correctly around the circle and added a small EST. 1972 line, for 2 credits.
  • Nano Banana Edit printed the badge on the tee with the type intact, and his backpack straps framed it like a real catalog shot.
  • GPT Image 2 Edit wrapped the badge onto the mug in a single green ink, the look of a real enamel print.
  • Seedance 2.5 kept the badge sharp and unchanged through the whole clip while the light and mist moved, for 30 credits.

When Placeit is the better pick

Placeit's library is huge and every scene is ready: pick a photo, upload your design, download. If you need fifty mockups of the same shirt by tonight, unlimited downloads on one flat plan are hard to beat.

Placeit also keeps your past downloads available after you cancel, and bundles logo and video templates you can edit in the browser.

If you want a scene no library has, an original design to go with it, or a moving product shot, we think generating it is faster than searching for it.

What the trail club drop cost us

Plans are Lite $10 a month for 160 credits, Pro $25 for 500 credits, Pro Max $50 for 1,100 credits. Every plan includes every model and commercial use.

The badge cost 2 credits, the tee shot 4.5 credits, the mug shot 5 credits and the 5 second Seedance 2.5 clip with sound 30 credits. Each tile lists its own price.

Under our refund policy, a first purchase can be refunded within 7 days, in full if under 20% of the credits are used and pro-rated after that.
